Halliday shimai ate NATTO! Brave soul!

dear everyone,
i wouldnt know if dad cant spell or that he has spiritual messages cuz i dont have time to read if i want to write...and there is sooooooooo much to write this week and no time at all.

i will start with jyo unmi. thats her name. shes...like the other koreans, keeps suspiciously dodging coming to church. sound familiar? i have a hunch i have seen this problem before in other koreans. *cough*

anyhow, she did come to the testimony meeting for dying missionaries on monday though and she said something that sounded like she said she could identify with one of the elder's testimonies. then she said something that sounded like her dad would hit her for going to other churches? i dunno... i just heard me, hit, and dad all in the same sentence. but i can't understand japanese well enough to say that that is actually what she said and my comp was up on the stand dying so she couldnt help. grrrrrrr. so thats jyo unmi.

[Once again, dying in missionary speak means leaving the mission field or ending your mission...for example, Halliday shimai is set to die on July 30, 2009]

now for motoi chan. we taught her about temples and she was absolutely fascinated with the temple magazine, so i bought her one at the temple when i went on tuesday. but she's got exams this week and can't meet! waaaah! she came to church though and stayed for all 3 hours! improvement! yaaaaaaaaay!

ok, so sunday. we went to the saito house for dinner. and brother saito dared me to eat natto...and sister saito was telling me it was ok not to eat it, but then doying choro had to say he would buy me a gatcha gatcha if i ate it...so i did.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew! it was so gross!!!

but really i have a feeling it was mental...like if you gave it to me and i didn't know it was natto...i might have eaten it. or maybe its cuz i didn't have enough of it to really remember the taste...just the gagging. i dunno. but anyhow, yeah.

but i really like the saito family. they are just like all of you! so fun!

monday, we went to the honbu [mission home] to kill my companion. waaaaaaaaah! i think the hardest part of it was that i was in a temporary threesome til today (tranfers) and this threesome consisted of me, nagase shimai (also a bean) [greenbean denotes a new missionary] and hardle shimai (2 transfers). we are all new!!! it was so scary not to have a companion who knew what she was doing!

but we did it. and we found tons of people. my immense knowledge of the train routes (i study them for language study...along with the maps) came in handy as an australian guy asked me something about the local train and the rapid train and blah and then he started talking about the mormons with us. he has a wonderful view of the church thus far, he says our missionaries are always so happy and well dressed and friendly. so we are doing our jobs apparently. he took a joseph smith pamphlet and had a lot of interest in the pioneers. unfortunately, he didn't want to meet with the elders but we told him when church was and everything good sisters are supposed to do. yay! we gave out another book of mormon to a lady on the train but she lives in ikebukuro (not in our area)

found lots of people but no appointments! augh!!! oh well

so still on monday, i saw brown choro at the honbu ... he is back in australia by now... he got sick and is serving in australia where he can see doctors. something about heart problems. *sigh*

still no sign of harris choro. hes directly opposite from my side of the mission.

tuesday was hard, we walked all day cuz we were in kichijoji but didn't have enough bikes. and hardle shimai is CRAZY! we had to beg her to stop for lunch and we didn't even get to stop for dinner. we ate at 10 back at the apartment.

but we found lots of people again that day so it was a good day. and we went to the temple because president hill was in a good mood and so he said we could go. we were in the same session as the dying missionaries and so i got to see yasutani shimai again and meet her family!!! wheeeeeeeeee!

last night the takasaki sisters stayed with us so they didnt have to get up at 4 to meet at the kichijoji eki [train station] at the appointed time for transfers. 5 sisters in our apartment. it was fun lemme tell ya. we played tetris with the futons. hee hee.

(PS since this is my apartment, i got to play mommy and take care of everyone and show them how to use the shower and i washed the dishes and made breakfast in the morning. it was fun!)

today i met my new comp. sister mcmurtrey from ohio. shes way nice and genki [fine, cool]. its her first time being senior comp...so we are both learning. the mission is so young now! our new district leader is howe choro and hes only in his 3rd transfer. he is co senior with nagata choro also in his 3rd transfer.

then there is holt choro...who dies this transfer. old man. hee hee.

but yeah, this will be a fun transfer! as this is howe choros home ward, the whole ward is excited. i cant wait!

thats about it. phew! just in time too! well, i love and miss you all! tell John i say hi and sorry i never wrote! im a loser. thats all. *shrug*

Love,
halliday shimai

ps. is kiana home!?! does anyone know!?!
