Halliday shimai + Pday + Japanese toy stores = $$$$

dear family. first of all, i can only withdraw money in 100 dollar increments so yeah. second...my comp likes shopping..kind of...so we go every p day and i got a little crazy with the jigsaw puzzles. they are like 25 each but i couldnt help buying them. sorry. i am obsessed. i would say i wont go to the toy store today but that would be lying.

putting me in a japanese toy store is like putting a kid in a candy shop...only its putting me in a japanese toy store. hee hee

speaking of candy...i might die. PLEASE dont say you put chocolate into my package. we are on a chocolate fast to help tani san quit coffee. (so far it has only worked halfway as she didnt drink coffee last week...but bought tea instead and then went drinking...WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!)

anyhow, sweets paradise is now completely painful for me...and ironically we went twice last week. *sigh*

sorry i didnt write last week. the email place was closed. grrrrrr. so yeah. and we were out ALL day with a less active member so i had no time to write. if i had known it would be closed i would have written a letter in the morning before we went out. sorry. and i felt bad cuz it was fathers day the next sunday so i will write daddy a letter today. promise!

things in kichijoji are pretty much the same. no investigators but we have some potentials. (aside from tani and motoi). one of the potentials we met in the park. it was a mom and her 3 year old daughter. we talked to them a little and played with the little girl. we gave them our apartment phone number and then she literally handed us her contact info. email and phone and address. we didnt even ask!

that was a week ago about. then last night she called! we are going to call her back today. yaaay.

lets see, since i havent written for 2 weeks i dont know what i talked about already. oh yeah...i guess i didnt tell you about our weather...hehehe

well, one day last week i checked the weather. (if you call 177 it gives you the weather report and i am obsessed with it) and it said it would rain tons. well, it was cloudy so we took our rain suits and went out but then it cleared up and we were like `so much for that`. we went to the park and i saw clouds gathering again so i took the top half of my suit and we went contacting. well at the precise moment that we were farthest from our bikes (at inokashira park) it starts dumping. with no warning at all! because we were under the trees i was able to put my coat on but my comp didnt have anything so we ran. it was no use. we were soaked through in seconds. then the lighting and thunder came. boom crack!

i am not stupid...i know what it means when there is no time between lightning and thunder. i screamed and tried to hide under mcmurtrey shimais backpack.

we rode home quickly (praying that we would not die in a flash flood or get hit by lightning) and changed clothes...and then went out again (when it was safer) to continue working. it was hilarious really... next time i will listen to the weather report and believe it.

we had zone conference. (ps yes i did see harris at new missionary conference and he hasnt changed a bit...still shook my hand with his eyes shut and dropped it in .0005 seconds...the dork. haha) anyhow, zone conference was amazing. we talked about the Atonement so of course how could it not be good.

we had to watch a safety video on bikes cuz a sister went home last transfer with a broken jaw cuz she flipped off her bike. (she used the front brakes on a hill...) i wont lie...i enjoy safety videos. they are pleasantly cheesy.

monday was interviews. i learned something very interesting. apparently kichijoji and suginami are the hardest areas in the mission owing to the fact that they are still upset about losing the mission home when the missions combined. who knew...i thought they were very good wards...and i told the president it was a good idea to put me here then since i couldnt be jaded and say they were hard wards haha. but my poor comp is having a hard time cuz her last area was really good and this is her first time being senior... looks like we have our work cut out for us!

please make sure you all help out the missionaries in the ward! its super super super important!

oh yeah! that reminds me. a tongan family moved into kichijoji recently. the husband plays on the national rugby team here so he is gone frequently but the mom wants to feed us all the time (of course) YAY!!! I DONT HAVE TO COOK!!!

not that i ever do. i live off instant curry...heheh

that is all. oh yeah, and i got chopsticks for grandy too dont worry.

and i want to get yukata for aubrey and brianna i think...they run at about 50...let me know.

anyhow, that is it. time is almost out! thanks for everything!!!

Love,
Sister Halliday
